no.w.here opens its laboratory and studio to reveal film installations and screenings of works made within the very space they are shown. no.w.here enables local, national and international artists to make work with access to unique facilities, training, curatorial and technical support. no.w.hereís lab facilities are unavailable elsewhere in the UK.
Drawing upon an incredible body of work made by no.w.here's members, moving image art will be installed and projected within the lab as an immersive experience.
These works combine digital technologies with a deep understanding and engagement with the material, mechanical and chemical nature of film. Continuously looping and playing, the works will be situated in relation to the machines in which they were made, drawing out an understanding of the capabilities of these 'emitters of light' and bringing a deeper appreciation of the qualities of film as a vital and important contemporary material.
no.w.here's activated lab will enable enquiring and artistic minds of all ages to engage with artistís films and videos, and will reveal hidden knowledge about light, chemicals and machinery, as well as presenting rarely seen frames of flickering of beauty bathed within the glowing light of the film projector.
