Scene 1 – The middle of no.w.here
It is 7pm and two artists enter and sit down at a table. They each pour a glass of water. To the side of each artist is a video monitor. They wait nervously for the audience to settle and then begin, reading from their scripts…
Emma Hart's work is a course of art action, setting out inventive processes and conceptual proposals to undertake with video and photography. Based in London, Hart performs and exhibits video, film and live art internationally and frequently collaborates with other artists often Benedict Drew. Her work has been presented at institutions including Tate Britain, Camden Arts Centre, Oberhausen 53rd International Film Festival, the ICA, Dundee Contemporary Art Centre, Beaconsfield Gallery and most recently Cell Project Space. Emma is currently working on her PhD in Fine Art (by practice) at Kingston University.
Benedict Drew is an artist who works in performance, sound and video. Current activities include writing his first symphony and an ongoing collaboration with artist Emma Hart. Benedict has also worked with Otomo Yoshihide and Sachiko M and with various improvisers including Tom Chant [as duo Suscete] Angharad Davies, Lee Patterson, Steve Beresford, Seymour Wright, Rhodri Davies & Louisa Martin (as Portable), Mark Wastell and Matt Davis. He has travelled widely presenting work in Japan, USA and Europe.
Benedict has also composed the soundtracks for five films by Emily Richardson. He has made many works for radio, most recently the series Unter Radio on Resonance FM. for many years he curated the London Musicians' Collective annual festival of experimental music.
