no.w.here present three films as part of SPNM's Sound Source event at the ICA.
SPNMís experimental music night The Sound Source returns to the ICA with a meeting of national folk traditions, cutting-edge composed music, improvisation, performance art and club culture. Kosmos perform vibrant contemporary explorations of eastern European, Jewish, Argentinian and African traditions, alongside experimental films from no.w.here, DJ sets and performance by spectacular rope artist Gisele Edwards.
These three works are rich and varied examples of experimentation between sound and image. Dubus
by Dimitriev Alexei is a contemporary scratch video, a genre that appropriates existing films and presents them in new forms often quite different from the authorís original intention. Caravans
by James Holcombe is a 4 screen super 8-film projection filmed in camera with a new soundtrack created for this Kronos quartet event. Finally The Space Between
by Mirza & Butler is an extravagantly layered, rhythmical investigation into architectural space reinforced by an equally spatially complex soundtrack created by David Cunningham.
